Product Description This perch provides a gentle source of warmth that circulates through the bird's feet. Unlike heat lamps that can get too hot, dry out feathers and cause sleeping disorders due to constant light, this perch provides safe, therapeutic warmth ony when your bird needs it.Other features include: counteracts harmful effects of air conditioning; helps relieve avian stress; stabilizes habitat; unique shape helps reduce foot cramping; thermostatically controlled, made of chew-resistant plastic, and the cord is metal wrapped to prevent chewing. Please take care not to let the cord hang near or into the cage as a determined bird may still damage the cord. This is a low-voltage (12-volts) heating unit using an UL listed adapter and cannot shock your bird, use only 5 watts; attaches easily to wire cages.Perfect for Finches, Parakeets, Canarys, Cockatiels and other small birds.Size:Perch is 10 1/2" long x 1/2" to 1" diameter.

My Parakeet warmed up to it instantly February 1, 2010 A. P. Nessel (Syracuse, NY) I live in a cold climate and my Parakeet was often cold despite of the warming bulb. I ordered a small Thermo Perch and initially got very disappointed with how big and wide it was. Apparently, I failed to visualize its actual size based on the dimensions provided. It was much larger than any perches used by my Parakeet so far. However, since it was the smallest size available, I decided to give it a try. My bird really likes it, and he doesn't seem to mind the large circumference of it. He uses it almost exclusively now, and he looks very relaxed and comfortable.
Cozy toes November 4, 2009 Elizabeth A. McGlynn (Elmore, Ohio) I wanted to make sure my little buddy always had access to extra warmth. I prefer to keep the house a little cooler at night (and so does my pocketbook). Aside from running an extra electric heater in his room, this heated perch seems to do the trick.
He was not afraid of it and stepped right on it when I offered him reach. He readily accepted it in his cage and figured out quickly that it was warm.
The only drawback I can see to this item is that it feels slippery to me. Perhaps a little texture would help this.
All in all, a great product, a great idea. Pete loves it.
Bigger than Expected January 16, 2009 Renee Peggie (Ojai, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased the small Thermo Perch for a parakeet. Although billed as a small perch, the diameter of the perch is still rather large except at the tip. The insulating plastic on the perch gets thinner from back to front allowing more heat to come through toward the tip of the perch. The temperature varies on the perch from no heat to warm at the tip. It is also pretty long for a parakeet cage. When attached to the back of the cage, the perch reaches about 3/4 of the way to the front of the cage.
The perch doesn't get hot so you don't have to worry about your bird burning it's feet. However, I am not sure if most of the perch is warm enough. Except at the tip you can't really feel much heat. Maybe bird feet are more sensitive.
My parakeet will not sit on the perch but he will sit next to it. He tends to be a bit skittish of new things. Although he doesn't sit on the perch I think he is still getting some benefit from the heat from the perch when his cage is covered for the night. He's always sitting next to it in the morning.
The drawbacks are the hard plastic covering and the large diameter of the "small" perch. The pluses are low energy usage and a safe heat source for my bird at night.
Thermal Perch January 6, 2009 Debbie F. Sharrer (Longs, SC USA) The Thermal Perch has a safe temperature that never changes and keeps birds
feet warm. Our Rosy Bourke's feet stays warmer now. This is a product I highly recommend for any bird.

My cockatiel loves it. You have peace of mind knowing that your bird is warm. The size is a bit different that other brands, the small one looks more like medium, take measurement before you buy it. I would buy it again!
