| Customer Reviews: Lovebirds are in Love June 10, 2010 LS (SF Bay Area) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We are caring for a pair of Lovebirds that were shelter rescues. One was very plucked by her mate and cannot fly and tends to fall. They both love this activity center but she is doing very well navigating it with her disability. She is growing back her feathers and seems to be enjoying her out of cage time. I actually found it fairly sturdy. For small birds it works good and seems to have enough going on to keep them interested. I cannot imagine a better little set up for budgies, lovebirds and cockatiels. There are also enough places to attach other toys to expand it.
As with anything new introduction should be slow. Put play stand in view but away from cage for a week or two then gradually move it closer. Once it is next to the cage then allow them to use it by coming out of cage on own and climbing down to play center. If the first reaction is strong or you have a single shy bird I would only put a couple of toys on to start and a a new one each week.
Budgie loves his activity center! November 17, 2009 Long Island reader (New York) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
My English Budgie (parakeet) LOVES this thing. He enjoys all the toys; hops from perch to perch. You can rearrange them to suit your bird. I tied leather strips to it and he loves to chew on them too, a good little addition. As for whole contraption, It's pretty big; the base is the about size of a the chip part of a chip and dip bowl. The middle post (eyeballing it) is about 15 inches tall. It's pretty easy to put together. The perches could FEEL sturdier but it is a tight fit. I was nervous at first that it would fall over, but nothing is going anywhere. Nothing ever fell off or anything, but when he gets super nuts the perches shake quite a bit. Still, it stays pretty neat. All his feathers and shells go into the green bin. Despite the fact that I wish it was a little sturdier, I would buy it again b/c he loves it so much and it's sturdy enough. He'll play on that thing for however long I leave him out of his cage. It's his home away from his cage!
Flimsy and a little overwhelming November 12, 2009 A. Brown (Austin, TX USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
It looked fun in the pictures... but the main column is made of hollow plastic. I tried to introduce my cockatiel to it... and she was a little overwhelmed by all the things on it. It looks like a good idea, but made of cheap materials, and too busy.
